D.I.Y. LEAD TO ENABLE A SPECTRUM +3, +2A AND A +2 TO USE AN AMSTRAD CPC COLOUR MONITOR.

My D.I.Y. lead illustrated above will give you a superb clear colour picture but sadly you will need to make additional arrangements if you require sound. I have made it as easy as possible for anyone handy with a small (15 watt) soldering iron to manufacture this lead. All that is needed for the job (apart from a soldering iron, solder and side cutters) is one 6 pin female DIN plug, one 8 pin male DIN plug and about three feet of five core cable. The pin numbers have been omitted intentionally as they are not required and it has been found that, they in fact make the job more complicated.
The two plugs are viewed from their solder connections as, again, this makes the task easier. We all know that the CPC6128 manual, when detailing the Monitor socket, states:- viewed from the rear, when in fact it is viewed from the front! and for this reason I have detailed this useful lead in the simplest and most straight forward way I can think of. All that is required to connect the two plugs together is to follow the drawing. I have even marked the pins that do not have any (N/C) connections just in case you might think you have forgotten to do something.
NB.This lead has now been tested, using a +3, on the Amstrad CTM640 monitor and it works fine. It is therefore assumed that this monitor will also work with a +2 and a +2A.
