MODULATORS USED WITH THE AMSTRAD CPC RANGE OF MACHINES.

With the aid of a modulator the operator is able to use a television set as a monitor/sound system for his or hers CPC464, CPC664 or CPC6128, though do note that it has been found that the quality of picture and/or sound can be poor on a very modern TV. The MP1 modulator was designed to work only with the CPC464 whilst the MP2 would work with any of the models. The MP1 and MP2 were released for the UK market and have RF connections (a lead with an aerial plug fitted) but models were also available with a Scart lead (in place of the RF lead) and the model number differs slightly to indicate this -- for example MP2F -- the 'F' equates to France where the Scart socket originated. Despite the instruction sheet below only mentioning the CPC464 and CPC664 (this is due only to the fact that it was printed prior to the introduction of the CPC6128) the actual modulator, who's User Instruction sheet is illustrated, has been tested using a CPC6128 and it works fine.

MP modulator To the novice buyer these modulators all look the same, therefore a close inspection is required to determine which one is on offer. Next to the Amstrad name will be found the model number and this is also repeated on a plate located on the base of the unit. Many of these units encountered of late have been found to be defective and not repairable, so be warned.
