| The Power Supply Units as supplied with the GX4000 are rubbish, and will soon need replacing. A good quality 9 volt DC Power Supply (regulated voltage) able to offer at least 500ma has been found to work fine with the machines claiming to require 11 volts. The P.S.U. required will need a 2.1mm long shafted D.C. plug with the positive connection in the centre. | My GX4000 11 volt P.S.U. stopped working, here is how I repaired it:- This 'Made in China' unit claims to have no serviceable parts inside and warns 'Do not open'. Well that is a challenge and with nothing to lose I ignored the warning. This unit is held together with three screws, these covered with blanking plugs, which were drilled out to reveal the screw heads. Two of these screws were of the security type and as I did not have the correct screwdriver the heads were drilled off (easy as they were of very soft metal). The unit was then pulled apart to reveal the contents. Testing pointed to a blown fuse, T1A/250V (T = time delay), this was replaced and the P.S.U. then worked fine. The shafts of the drilled screws were removed and two replacements selected from my tin of self tapping screws. The unit was reassembled and is now working without any problems. |
