The convertor pictured to your right was supplied by Cirtech (UK) Ltd to
enable owners of the Canadian, U.S. or German versions of PCW8256, PCW8512
and, I assume, the PCW9512 (as this model is quite rare in the UK I have
not had a chance to test the convertor out on one) to use all the ad-ON's
as supplied for the models of PCW as sold in the UK and other parts of Europe.
This convertor retailed at £14-50 (PCWToday August 1997) but according to the advert the convertor bolted onto the machine, the example illustrated (Version 1.0) does not, so there could well have been a different version released.
This convertor in conjunction with any Interface ad-on, long bolts and spacers makes a very secure working unit.
When Amstrad ran out of UK spec 8256/8512 models they supplied German version
machines to the home market and after a number of complaints they supplied
convertors to enable the use of UK type ad-ON's, I have not, as yet, come
across one of these. I do believe that Amstrad supplied these free of charge,
but could be wrong. |
