Many owners of the Daisywheel printers may find, sooner or later, that due to transportation or a severe jolt that it prints gibberish. This is normally due to a misalignment of the Print Wheel. The same can apply when changing print wheels so as to use a different type of font.
I realign by eye but Mr. G. Black offers below his way of doing it and this might prove to many to be the easiest procedure for them.
CHANGE/CENTRE 9512 PRINT WHEEL.
With the machine switched on and Locoscript loaded open the lower printer cover, grasp the ribbon cartridge and pull off.
Pull back the lever on the left hand side of the print assembly so a print wheel can be removed/inserted.
After inserting a print wheel (with the writing pointing towards the print roller) push the lever ONE position forward so that it locks.
Press the PTR key and then the F1 key. From the offered menu scroll down to and select PRINT RESET.
Push the lever on the printer as far forward as it will go, and whilst still
holding the lever forward, press the ENTER key. The printer will then
move the carriage back to the left hand side and spin the Daisy Wheel.
Release the lever and repeat the printer reset instructions without touching the lever. The Daisy Wheel should spin under control, if not (which happens very rarely) repeat the above instructions.
Press the EXIT key to leave the printer menu.
Replace the ribbon cartridge and close the lower printer cover.
