CORRECT THAT CROOKED PICTURE.

I have found that most of the PcW9256's and PcW10's which have passed through my hands over the years, came with the picture slanted ( yes they left me with a nice straight picture), but until recently nobody seemed to have mentioned the existence of this annoying fault, I therefore assume a book or similar was placed under one side of the cabinet to correct the problem.
The answer is very simple and all it takes is around 10 minutes to put it right.
Let me say from the start to adjust the picture will mean the removal of the rear casing and working with the machine switched on, so those of you not happy with this, should find someone willing to undertake the task for you.

THE SOLUTION.

Switch off your machine and disconnect it from the mains supply, then unplug your printer plus anything else attached to the rear ports. Remove the six retaining screws securing the rear casing and side it off, then place it out of harms way.

Now look at the neck of the tube and you will see around it a set of scan coils (the copper wire wound thing), these are secured to the tube's neck by a clamp, which will be seen at one end of the scan coils, the end nearest the tube's base. Slacked this clamp by undoing it's bolt by just a few turns. I have found it best to give the scan coils a twist, whilst the machine is switched off, as they can get stuck to the tube's neck, but do be gentle as you do not want snap the neck off the tube.
You will now need to find a mirror, as large as possible, which needs to be set up in front of your machine. Give yourself enough room to work at the rear of the machine then switch on and load Locoscript, as this will give you a straight line with which to work.
Hold the scan coils by it's plastic frame ( avoid touching the electrical connections terminal on the scan coils! ), look in the mirror and turn until the picture is straight, then tighten the bolt in the clamp.
Now refit the rear casing, connect your printer and test.
